Random Weave, Sculptural Forms

In this workshop participants will learn how to wrangle vines, twigs and leaves into a sculptural form using random weaving techniques.

We will look at how to create 2D and 3D forms that could be free standing or wall pieces. There will also be discussion on how to harvest and prepare materials for weaving.

Workshop date: Saturday 27 July 10am- 4:00 pm

Material fee: $25 per person (please bring cash on the day) This will include all materials required (vines, leaves and palm inflorescences).

Suitable for: Beginners to advanced (all)

What participants should bring: Secateurs or garden scissors and an apron.
All materials will be supplied but participants are welcome to bring in materials to incorporate or ask questions about.

What materials will be supplied: Vines (eg coral pea, jasmine, hardenbergia, smilax), palm inflorescence (eg bangalow and cocos palms), and leaves (eg red hot poker and rush)

Tutor Bio: Branching Out is a collaboration of sisters Jillian Culey and Carolyn Dance. They create baskets, woven lights and sculptures from natural fibres. The sisters embrace the entire process of gathering and foraging natural fibres to the creative process and they incorporate many techniques of weaving into their beautiful and functional woven objects. www.branchingout.com.au
