Who we are

The Blackheath Art Society is a friendly community of people leaning in to our creative natures. We know that being creative feels good and being creative together feels even better. We welcome beginners, masters, and everyone in between - anyone who wants to join us to feel that creative buzz and enjoy the support of others with artistic goals. We have a good time.

Working side by side, sharing skills and knowledge and ideas, we all become better artists, enjoying ourselves and strengthening community.

What we do

The Blackheath Art Society is a not-for-profit art society - a vibrant creative hub for people in the Blue Mountains and surrounds. We are working hard to help more people enrich their lives through accessing and nurturing their creative sides.

Over the course of the coming year, Blackheath Arts Soc will run more workshops and classes in a wider range of media, including painting, clay, printing, drawing, sculpture, multimedia, photography and more.

In 2024 we are focussing on making what we offer available to a more diverse range of people, and also making the wider community aware of the benefits and value of art for us all.

Join us

Joining the Blackheath Art Society gives you access to our spaces and resources, our classes and workshops, and a whole supportive community of artists. You’ll get the opportunity to learn from artists at the top of their game. You’ll enjoy the camaraderie and encouragement that comes with spending time with fellow creative humans. You’ll feel more confident and brave enough to enter your work in our exhibitions. We run at least four exhibitions a year, where you can show work and offer it for sale.

And hey, we know it can feel a bit daunting to walk into a room full of people you don’t really know, especially when it involves getting creative. We want to reassure you, we are not scary or exclusive or stuffy. Blackheath Art Society is a welcoming, inclusive place, so don’t be shy. We really want a diverse range of people walking through our door, ready to get their hands dirty in the name of art. Come on. It’ll be fun.
