Ken's formal qualifications include; MArts Art and Design Education (COFA UNSW) and MArts Special Education (Newcastle). He has led several Creative and Performing Arts Faculties at NSW schools. Ken's involvement in community arts includes establishing an exhibiting arts cooperative in the Macleay Valley. He has also co-produced and stage-designed local theatre events which were supported by a NSW Premier's Department Grant.

Ken has an extensive repertoire of art-making skills favouring 3D work in ceramics and sculpture.

His recent retirement has allowed him to undertake personal research into Japanese shishirin style charcoal forges for firing ceramics and developing wild clay bodies and glazes that accommodate this method. Concurrently Ken is producing a range of sculptural work influenced by Chinese, Korean and Japanese brush pots using recycled timber, sandstone and clay.

Ken's art teaching practice has and will continue to be focused on designing learning experiences that build the confidence to explore art-making further.
