CREATIVITY AND ABSTRACTION with GABRIELLE JONES 10AM - 4PM SATURDAY |
Using observation of real objects, Gabrielle will walk you through a number of exercises, thinking methods, tools and imagination games to develop your ability to make interesting abstract work, move your realistic painting away from the predictable, or improve composition and subject ideas. Tuition is structured to ensure fast learning and early success and to stimulate creativity and generate ideas for on-going work. Suitable for those wishing to break out of their current painting rut, move from realism to abstraction, or who simply wish to explore abstraction and extend their creativity (view Gabrielle’s website on www.gabriellejones.com.au) |

WATER MAKES
COLOUR: 10AM - 4PM SATURDAY/SUNDAY |
In a loose and
gestural manner, both watercolour and mixed media will be used to
explore landscape and still life in its most interesting forms.
Students will be encouraged to work at their own pace with the aim
of creative enjoyment. Day 1 will begin with an informal discussion on the goals of each student within the course, before being presented with a variety of stimulating images for discussion. This will be followed by a series of quick warm up exercises to get the creative juices flowing. In a guided lesson on still life, students will learn to express impact using colour, texture and pattern both within the subject and in the background.Day 2 will look at a contemporary use of colour within landscape. Students will be provided with a landscape image from which to begin painting. Here you will be encouraged to experiment with vivid colour to create dramatic mood and feeling, whilst challenging the traditional landscape. |
